Scout
Troops & School Outings
Everyday Artists offers scout troops many different options to have fun in our workshop. We have found that gaining a little knowledge about your scout troop can help us tremendously in helping you create a fun event for you and your troop. Please take a moment to answer the following questions then look through the page for our options that may fit your needs.
Question 1: What are the ages of the scouts within your troop?
Question 2: Does your troop need to earn a badge or are you looking for something different and fun to do for a meeting?
Question 3: Does your troop need to look at some type of community service that we may be able to offer assistance?
Paint your own pottery
Paint your own pottery is available to children of all ages starting at infancy and going up through adulthood. If you would like to offer your scout troop something fun and different for an upcoming meeting we can offer you two different options.
Option 1: You are welcome to make a reservation for your troop then come on in and let the scouts pick whatever bisque pieces they would like to paint right from the stock we have to offer on the shelves. Many scout leaders find it useful to tell the scouts that they can pick from any items up to a specific price. All of our prices are clearly indicated and because we are "all-inclusive" in our pricing, there are no surprises at the time of check out.
Option 2: If you would like to minimize confusion and chaos for your troop the option of a "pre-pick" might be better for you. This option allows you to choose one item from our workshop that we pre-order in large quantity for the entire troop to paint. We ask that you make your choice of item at least 2 weeks in advance of the event so we can pre-order adequate supply of the chosen item.
**Both options stated above require advance reservation and a deposit to be placed at the time of reservation.
Scout Pottery & Ceramics Badge
Are your scouts interested in earning their pottery badge? Everyday Artists now offers you a complete program that satisfies all requirements for the Girl Scouts Pottery & Ceramics Badge in just 2 visits to our workshop. This badge is available for scouts in 3rd grade or older. A Bridge badge is available for those scouts completing 2nd grade and entering 3rd grade the following fall.
The Pottery & Ceramics Badge in 5 Easy Steps:
1. On your first visit the scouts will work with clay in soft form learning at least four different completed pottery forms.
2. Complete at least one piece of their own from "scratch". The piece will be left at workshop for firing.
3. Have a tour of the kiln room with 3 working kilns.
4. Return to glaze their pieces the next week and learn about final firing of pottery.
5. The scout leaders can pick up the completed pieces a week after the final firing to deliver to the scouts. See the picture below of a previous scout troops pottery.
*Call the workshop for more information and to reserve a time for your troop! Reservation and deposit required two weeks in advance of the event date.
